At Prisma Guitars, we want to make sure that we’re making the best guitars possible, with no sacrifices in tone or playability. That comes before everything else.
When we designed the Mattsonia with Jarred Mattson, we wanted strongly to produce something that looked familiar, whilst still being completely unique in sound and aesthetic. We feel like we achieved that in our final design. We have gotten much praise for this shape and it is now becoming a favorite model amongst the community.
This particular guitar features a 25 skateboard book-matched top with blue tint. The actual bulk of the body is a lightweight one-piece African Mahogany so it’s very similar in a lot of ways to a guitar construction like a Gibson Les Paul. Amazingly, it can sound like one too. Finished in an ultra-thin nitrocellulose lacquer, you can sometimes feel the individual layers of the skateboard in the pressed laminate as noted by Guitar Magazine.
The McNelly branded Charlie Christian pickup used is in our new favorite pickup McNelly produces for a number of reasons. Specifically, it’s easy to go crazy over the warmth of the neck pickup and the fiercesome bite the bridge. When the neck and bridge pickups are combined in the middle position---the crisp, cutting clean tones on the bridge couple with the deep bass sounds from the neck birthing a tone in particular that’s perfect for many styles of playing.
In that case that you want to change anything about our stock Mattsonia, you can order a fully customizable version tailored to your needs as with all of our models.
